Our Doctors Dr. Ramana Dandamudi MD (Ped.)
Senior Pediatric Hemato – Oncologist

Practicing for the past 12 years in Hyderabad with excellent results in comparison to any western units. Established good diagnostic and therapeutic services for children with chronic blood disorders like anemia and bleeding problems.

Under the supervision of Dr Ramana Dandamudi, the Oncology program at Little Stars proposes to offer comprehensive care for children with all types
of cancer including leukemia, lymphoma, neuroblastoma and cancers of the brain, bone, soft tissues and others. Children with cancer require a multidisciplinary approach involving number of specialists experienced in the treatment of childhood cancer; e.g. Pediatric surgeon, Neurosurgeon & other
surgical subspecialists; blood and bone marrow transplant physicians, radiation oncologist, medical imaging specialist, Pathologist and Pediatric Intensivist. All play extremely important roles in the care of children with cancer, and great effort is made to ensure optimal communication among physicians. Little Stars will continue to provide excellent care that is patient and family centric, thus supporting them through an extremely stressful time.

A 10 bedded facility in a clean environment for both in-patient and day care therapy. It offers comprehensive care for children with all types of cancers including leukemias, lymphomas and solid tumors.

Staff are quite well versed with handling permanent central lines, intense chemotherapy schedules, care of immune-compromised children and routine
procedures like bone-marrow aspirations and lumbar puncture.

On-going collaboration with reputed national and international Oncology groups and hospitals to provide the best for our patients and families.

Little Stars will actively participate in the national and international cooperative research group conducting clinical trials and performing research to
identify cancer causes and pioneer treatments & cures for childhood cancer. We participate in the MRC UK protocols to refine research and treatment protocols to improve cancer cure rates and reduce side effects. Important treatment decisions are made and reviewed at a weekly multidisciplinary tumor board. There is focused bone tumor program with close interaction in the management of pediatric bone tumor surgeon and pediatric oncologists. There is a special multidisciplinary brain tumor clinic to expedite management decisions for these patients.

The in-patient and out-patient units caring for cancer patients are staffed with pediatric nurses with special training in oncology, led by experienced nurse leaders who are also engaged in nursing education related to care of children and adolescents with cancers or blood disorders. Outpatient care is
delivered in the pediatric oncology day therapy suite. The oncology team provides services including assessment, chemotherapy administration, blood transfusion, and minor procedures.
